Christmas Nails 2015

Hey peeps, how’s it going? I hope you are having a nice holiday so far. I decided I wanted to start updating this blog again because I truly miss it and I think it will be good for me. I can’t promise everything will be as routine as it used to be, but I will try my very hardest to post as much as I can. I’m making it one of my goals for 2016, so I can’t fail right hahaHA. Ahem… anyway, if you didn’t notice I have made some improvements to my blog’s layout. I have a new background, different fonts, tab colors, etc. I think it looks quite nice. I also updated my About Me section and my Nail Polish Inventory, if you were curious about any of that.   So, for the reason you are probably reading this, here is my nail design for this Christmas.  I decided to go with something simple yet still festive. I started with my Revlon Base + Top Coat, and then carefully added a red French tip over my nails. It’s actually quite simple to free had French tips; just lay your hand on a table

Pray for Paris

A horrible event happened in Paris yesterday and it's truly devastating to hear. I can't even imagine being in that situation, but I know how scary that would be and how upsetting that would be to witness. My prayers go out to everyone there and to the families or friends that lost someone important in their life. I honestly cannot comprehend how someone could just bomb and shoot innocent people who had no warning and no way to defend themselves. I know that this sort of stuff happens in some countries even more frequently and that is just so awful. I'm not really sure what else to say besides that I hope everyone stays safe. I know I haven't posted in a while and I promised I would, but I might as well stop promising. I just wanted to show my support for those who had to go through such a tragedy. Hopefully one day the world will be in a much better place. I'll see you guys... whenever. [Polishes used: Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri shades in "Rapid Red&

Kleancolor "Blue Pearl" Review

Hello everyone! I'm back from Florida (well I have been for like 5 days) and while I was there we went to a lot of boutiques by the beach. If you know me at all then you know that if I see nail polish anywhere I can't resist buying at least one bottle. So I bought two. Both of them were the same brand, Kleancolor, and one of them is the color pictured above called "Blue Pearl" (#11). This is a very pretty metallic blue color. The bottle is not deceiving as some polishes are; it's the exact same color as it looks in the bottle. I put on two coats because if you only do one it is quite transparent (which could be good for certain nail looks, but I was using it on it's own) and it's one of those polishes this separate when left on the nail. If you don't know what I mean it's like you paint it on your nail and then the polish moves apart in certain areas to leave your nail semi bare in certain spots (I can't explain this if you paint your nails

Beach Nails

Hello everyone! I'm going to the beach in a couple days so I decided to do a beach inspired nail design. I attempted to do that marble effect where you use like hairspray or whatever, but I couldn't get it to work. If you have any tips for that let me know. The polishes I used for this design were NYC's "French White Tip" (#134), Sally Hansen's "Sand Storm" (#113), "Blue-Away" (#425), and "Snappy Sorbet" (#460", Triple Shine "Reef-Raf" (#210), and Blackheart Beauty's “Deep Sky Blue”. I also used a nail dotter, makeup sponge, and the Dries Instantly Top Coat by Sally Hansen. For the ombre I started with a white base coat and let that dry. Then using a makeup sponge I added a generous amount of my three colors and dabbed that on my nails. I always do that more than once for the right opacity. As an added touch I painted a starfish on my index finger using a nail dotter to make the star shape. I hope you g

Butterfly Wing Nails

Hello everyone! Today I have a fun new design for you guys. It's received tons of compliments and I really like it a lot. This is my butterfly nail look, inspired by Pinterest. The polishes I used for this design were NYC's “Strip Me Off” Base Coat (#001) and “French White Tip” (#134), Sally Hansen's "Presto Pink" (#15) and "Brisk Blue" (#430), and Essie's "Licorice" (#720). I also used a nail dotter, makeup sponge, and a clear coat to finish it off. I started by applying my base coat which is a peel off so I can quickly remove the look when it's time for a new one. Then I did a typical ombre, which I have done many times before (you can refer to any of my other ombre looks if you want to know how to do that). Over the ombre I copied a butterfly wing design by painting a thick diagonal triangle by the tip of my nail, another black diagonal line towards the bottom of my nail, and connecting those with short, black lines. I added wh

Firework Nails

Hello everyone! If you live in America then tomorrow is an exciting day for you, full of celebration. With that celebration comes amazing fireworks. So, without further a do here are my Independence Day firework nails. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen's "Co-balt Blue" (#320), "Red My Lips" (#470), "Silver Sweep" (#230), and "Grape Shifter" (#423), NYC's "French White Tip" (#134), and Blackheart Beauty's "Deep Sky Blue". I also used a nail dotter to create the fireworks. I started by painting the base colors on my nails, alternating the colors on each finger, and letting that dry. I chose to do my fireworks on the navy blue nails, but you can do them on the red or even on all the nails if you choose. For the fireworks I started with a dot for the center of the firework and added a red star there. Remember, the center of the firework does not have to be in the center of the nail (I only did that on one nai

Bees?

Hey everyone! If you didn't know, bees are actually pretty amazing and instead of running in fear we should praise bees in every possible way. I decided that since you see bees a lot in the summer that they would bee (hehe) the perfect inspiration for a nail design. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri shade "Lightening" (#280), Xtreme Wear shade "Black Out" (#28), and NYC's "French White Tip" (#134). I also used a small nail dotter. I started with yellow as my base coat and let that dry. The polish I used was really old and I'm in need of a new yellow, so if you have any suggestions, brnd wise, let me know. Anyway, on my ring finger I dotted on a generic bee shape using my black polish. Beehind (haha I'm so good)(jk) the bee I added a dotted line to represent to trail that cartoons bees seem to leave behind them. To highlight that I used my white polish and added white dots overlapping the black. Add

Rainbow Ombre

Today marks an important day in history for the US. As of today same-sex marriage is legal in all 50 states! I'm so proud of our country for making this huge step towards equality and everyone has been so positive. In celebration and support of this movement I decided to do a rainbow ombre to represent the LGBT+ flag. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen's "Red My Lips" (#470), "Taheati" (#620), "Lightening" (#250), "Green With Envy" (#02), "Blue Me Away!" (#04), and "Vigorous Violet" (#365) along with NYC's "French White Tip" (#134) and Revlon's Base + Top Coat (#965). To make the ombre you will need a make-up sponge. I did my ombre vertical starting with the red and orange, moving onto orange and yellow, etc. until all my nails were covered. Like the standard ombre you paint a white base coat on your nails and let that dry. Then just paint your two colors next to each other on the sponge and

Matte Black Nails

Hello everyone!! Just a quick update for my nails right now. I just have a simple matte black mani which only required Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri polish "Black To Black" (#360) and Sally Hansen's big matte top coat. Today has been a filming and editing day for me. I have one video going up about graduation (which will be here when it is done uploading) and I filmed a clothing haul which will be up... sometime. Sorry for the short post. BYYEEE Oh P.S. I updated my Nail Polish Inventory. There are two new polishes there. That's all.

Sideways French Manicure

Hello everyone!! Tomorrow I am officially graduating high school!! It is a known fact that for graduation you have to dress up nicely (and then immediately cover that up by your gown) and I found a really nice dress during a Mother’s Day sale at JC Penny’s that I thought would be perfect for the occasion. Inserting the photo…. NOW!  I needed a matching manicure so I decided to do a simple sideways French manicure using a couple colors that were in the dress.  The polishes I used were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Co-Balt Blue” (#320) and “Brisk Blue” (#430). I used my usual Base + Top Coat by Revlon (#965) and for the manicure effect I used PERFECT tips by Nailene.  This is a pretty simple design. I started with the darker blue as my base color (it’s an old polish I really need a new one) and let that dry. Next I put the stickers close to the side of my nail leaving space for the color to show and painted on my light blue. I usually wait 10 seconds before I peel o

Dotticure

Hey everybody! I decided to do a simple dotticure that I found on Pinterest this week. I copied this design directly from this website so credit goes to this awesome nail artist (@ sonailicious). Since this is pretty self-explanatory I’m going to just tell you the colors I used and then give you a few updates.   The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Sand Storm” (#113), “Brisk Blue” (#430), “Man-go Team!” (#30), and “Flashy Fuchsia” (#220), and NYC’s “French White Tip” (#134). I used my usual Base + Top Coat by Revlon (#965). Ok so update time. My designs for next week are going to be to match my dresses for my school’s award day ceremony and graduation. If you weren’t aware I am graduating on June 6 th . I plan on making a graduation video, so that will go up on my (sadly neglected at the moment) YouTube channel when that’s done. I also plan on getting a pixie haircut on June 8 th or 9 th, so don’t be too shocked when you see me the

Kiwi Nails

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I did my last fruit inspired nail design (which was strawberries if you want to check that out), so I decided I’d do another one. I found this idea on my Pinterest after scrolling down forever and it’s just perfect for spring/summer. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Lickety-Split Lime” (#450) and “Black to Black” (#360) and NYC’s “French White Tip” (#134). I also used a tiny nail dotter and my usual Base + Top Coat by Revlon.  I started with the lime green as my base color and let that dry. Then I blobbed on a white oval in the middle of my nail, using a bit more polish than I normally would. I used one side of my nail dotter to drag the white color out to look like the inside of a kiwi. Finally I added the black seeds around the white center and set my design with a top coat. I hope you guys like this design! I couldn’t be bothered to get up and make a video tutorial, but I’ve been want

Inverted Zebra Stripes

Hello everyone! I have always wanted to do zebra stripes as a nail design, but I decided I’d do something a bit different with it. So I thought, “What’s a cool way to do zebra stripes that is also really easy? Aha! Invert the colors!” So that’s exactly what I did. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shade in “Black to Black” (#360), NYC’s “French White Tip” (#134), and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). I also used NYC’s “Strip Me Off” Base Coat (#001), so that I can just peel off my design when I’m ready to change it. For this design I simply painted on my black base color and let that dry. Then using a small nail art brush I painted on stripes coming from both sides of my nail until the nail was filled. The stripes need to vary in length and shape in order to look like zebra stripes. If you need a visual you can do what I did and just reference someone else’s design or an actual zebra print. I had to go over the white twice to make it opaque whe

Peacock Nails

Hello everyone! I feel bad for not posting much this month (I’ve only done one nail design!?), but I have had no inspiration since my April Nail Art challenge. Finally I have figured out what I’ll be doing for the rest of May and a bit of June and the first design is Peacock nails. I got this idea from Pinterest (obvs). The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel shade in “Combustealble” (#540), Insta-Dri shades in “Brisk Blue” (#430), “Mint Sprint” (#440) and “Lickety-Split Lime” (#29), Essie’s “Good As Gold” (#941), and Blackheart Beauty’s “Deep Sky Blue”. I also used a small nail art brush and a nail dotter. I started with “Combustealble” as a base. Then, using my small nail art brush, I painted diagonal lines starting at the corner of my nail across my entire nail. I did this with the blue, mint, and green polishes (in that order), layering the colors over each other. Using my nail dotter I added a gold oval shape towards the far, top right of my

Recycle!!

Yo my peeps I’ve got a special, non-nail related blog post for you today. If you didn’t know I am in an Environmental class and for our final project we needed to come up with something that would impact the Earth. I was thinking about what I could do while sipping on a cup of coffee when I realized… wow... I drink a crap ton of coffee. I’m sure a lot of you guys drink coffee on a daily basis as well. So I did some (bee bee boop bee bee boop) research and found out coffee grounds can be recycled.  Let me spit out some facts for you. According to carryyourcup.org , Americans consume 400 million cups of coffee per day which is 146 billion cups of coffee per year. The U.S. is the leading consumer of coffee in the WORLD. Just think about the amount of coffee grounds that would be and that’s only for the United States. We also throw away 25 billion Styrofoam coffee cups each year and 2.5 million plastic cups every hour . This website has a lot of info and it even has a pledge you

R2-D2 Nails

Hello everyone! Happy Star Wars Day!!!!! WOOOOO! Ok, I’m getting a bit too excited lol. To celebrate Star Wars Day I decided to do a R2-D2 nail design. The polishes I used were NYC’s “French White Tip” (#134), Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades “Silver Sweep” (#230), “Co-Balt Blue” (#320), “Rapid Red” (#280), and “Black to Black” (#360). I also used painters tape, a skinny nail art brush and a nail dotter. I started with a white base (which took 3 coats with the polish I used). I then painted a little more than a third of my nail (the part by the cuticle) silver, using painters tap as my straight edge. Next I covered up the bottom portion of silver with a piece of painter’s tap and placed another piece a stripe's width away from the silver. I painted over my nail with navy blue leaving the bottom half of my nail white and then removed the painter’s tape (after 10 seconds). I also added a thin blue stripe for extra detail. For the details on R2-D2 (ring finger) I added two

Pastel Galaxy Nails

Hello everyone! My nail art challenge for April 28 th was to do a galaxy nail design, but I figured, since it's spring, why not give this design a bit of a twist. I headed off to Pinterest and came across a pastel galaxy! This is perfect for spring and I thought I’d give it a go. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Pink Blink” (#205), “Lively Lilac” (#420), “Man-go Team!” (#30), “Blue-Away” (#425), and “Jade Jump” (#450), and Sally Hansen’s Triple Shine shade “Twinkled Pink” (#310). For this design you will need a clean makeup sponge as well. I started out with my bright pink base color and let that dry. On a makeup sponge I painted one color with my purple and patted the excess polish off of the sponge onto a piece of paper. This is the most important step to ensure you get the galaxy effect. I patted on my purple polish in a diagonal line across my nail. Then I did the same thing with all the rest of my colors except instead of doing a line f

NYC Strip Me Off Base Coat Review

Hello everyone! I just wanted to post a quick review of a new base coat that I have purchased. I bought this at the same time as the white polish by NYC, which I also reviewed , and it was under 2 dollars at Walmart. So this base coat is a peel off base coat meaning that you don't need any cotton balls or nail polish remover to take off your mani! I love the idea of this and I’ve always wanted to try it. This base coat actually works pretty well. It takes longer to dry than an average clear coat, which is understandable, but it still dries quickly if you use a thin coat. As for peeling it off it came off really easily until I got to the glitter part of my nails. It was a bit tough to peel off the glitter, but I managed to do it and leave nothing behind. Another problem I found with this is that it didn’t spread evenly in some places which created some bubbles. I’d say for the price that this base coat isn’t bad. It has a few flaws, but essentially it does what it is mean

Earth Day Nails

Hello everybody! As you may know, Earth Day is today and to celebrate I thought I would do an Earth inspired mani. When scrolling through Instagram I came across a tutorial for a saran wrap design and since I’d never done it before I decided I’d give it a shot. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Brisk Blue” (#430) and “In Record Lime” (#50), Xtreme Wear’s, “White On” (#300), and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). I also used 10 small squares of saran wrap. For this design I started with my blue base color and let the dry. Then I applied generous globs (that word is so gross, but that’s the best way to describe it) of each of my 3 colors randomly on my nail. I laid the saran wrap over my nail and patted gently until the colors were evenly spread and blended.   After that dried I applied my top coat and it’s done! I hope you all like this design and if you haven’t tried a saran wrap design before you should do it because it’s actuall

OOTD: Black and Silver Nails

Hello everyone! My next nail art challenge is an outfit of the day inspired manicure. I tend to wear black and grey everyday so I decided to do an elegant black and silver design, inspired from Pinterest. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Black to Black” (#360) and “Silver Sweep” (#230), and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). I also used a stud from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit and a nail dotter. To start this design I applied a base coat; since the polish I used was black this step was extra extra important. Then I painted on the black polish on every nail except my ring finger nail. For my ring finger nail I used my silver polish. When my base color was dry I used a big nail dotter to add 3 silver dots towards the tips of the black nails. Using the smaller end of the nail dotter I added small dots around the larger dots. On the accent nail I added a black stud (which was originally gold but I painted it) and secured it with

Sunset Nails

Hello everybody! My next nail art challenge was to do an ombre and since summer is getting closer I decided to do one inspired by a beautiful summer sunset. The polishes I used for this tutorial were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Man-go Team!” (#30) and “Lightening” (#280), NYC “French White Tip” (#134), and Sinful Colors “Hazard” (#952). You will also need a makeup sponge and Elmer’s all-purpose glue. To start your ombre you will first need to apply a white base coat to all of your nails and let that dry. To protect the skin around the nail I applied Elmer’s glue, which I put in an empty nail polish bottle, for an easy clean up afterwards. For the ombre itself I painted the three colors side by side on my clean makeup sponge and patted that all over my nails. I did this twice for each nail, but depending on how opaque you want it you can do it more or less. Once that is dry you can pull off the glue around your nails and you should be left with clean skin! Add a topco

NYC “French White Tip” Review

Hello everyone! Sorry this post is a bit later than usual, but my next post isn’t until Monday and I felt bad for making you wait that long. So, I have decided to put up a review for a new polish that I recently bought. I really needed   new one because tbh I don’t like the Sally Hansen one I’m using right now. I know I use it a lot, but that’s only because I don’t have any other ones and I always forget to buy a new one. The Xtreme Wear one that I use just dries up too quickly and gets all thick and gooey. Anyway, when I was visiting our new Walmart I saw this polish and decided to try it out. The polish I picked up is by NYC (New York Color) in the shade “French White Tip” (#134). The reason I chose this polish is because it was so cheap! The bottle was only 99 cents for 0.45oz so I thought why not just try it out. This polish isn’t top quality, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. The formula is a bit runny, not too horrible though. The biggest issue is it goes on streaky and it

Braided Nails

Hello everyone! As part of my nail art April challenge I have taken on the task of doing a braided nail design. This is the first time I have ever attempted this, so I’d say that they turned out ok. I did make the mistake of making the pink overlap instead of just touch, but I’ll learn (hopefully). The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Jade Jump” (#450) and “Pink Blink” (#205), and Essie’s “Good As Gold” (#941). I also used a squared nail art brush and my usual Base + Top Coat. I started with the color “Jade Jump” as my base and let it fully dry. Next, using my pink polish, I painted a thick, diagonal line coming up from my cuticle all the way towards the middle on my nail. I did the same thing using the gold polish, except coming from the other side, making the two lines crisscross. I continued to crisscross the pink and gold until my whole nail was covered, making sure to leave some of the base color visible. Seal that off with a clea

Easter Egg Nails

Happy Easter! For this year I decided to go with the classic Easter egg design and a cute glitter accent nail. Stay tuned for how I did it and also some special announcements. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Shades in “Lightening” (#250) and “Pronto Purple” (#360), Xtreme Wear shades in “Green With Envy” (#02) and “White On” (#300), and Orly “Fowl Play” (#20753). I also used Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). To start off this design I painted all my nails a solid white. Then, using a nail art bush, I painted two horizontal lines in green, spacing them apart so that my nail had three even sections. In between these two lines I painted a zigzag line in purple. To finish off the Easter egg look I added yellow polka dots on the rest of the nail. For the accent nail I used a purple glitter over top of the white (just in case it was sheer I had never used it). Finish everything off with a top coat and you’re done! I hope you guys like this Easter

Dandelion Nails

This is my last post... HA! GOT YOU APRIL FOOLS. Ok, seriously lol. Hello everyone! For the month of April I am doing a nail art challenge and the design for April 1 st is flowers. I didn’t want to do the normal flower design that I’ve done before so I decided to switch it up and do dandelions! Yeah I know dandelions are technically weeds… let them live their dream. The polishes I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Blue-Away” (#425) and “Black to Black” (#360), and Xtreme Wear shade “White On” (#300). I also used some thin nail are brushes and my Revlon top coat (which I reviewed on Sunday *winkwink*). I started off with my blue base color and let that dry. Then using a thin nail art brush I painted a stem in black on my index finger. In white I made the dandelion puff by painting in small, short strokes all the way around the top of the stem. I left a little bit of the circle incomplete because, instead of painting a dandelion on each nail, I p

Showdown: Clear Coats

Hello everyone! Today I have a special review of four different clear coats. You may think that clear coats are all the same, but you’d be wrong. They all have their good and bad qualities. I’ll be reviewing Sally Hansen’s “Clearly Quick” (#110), Diamond Strength Base & Top Coat, and No Chip Top Coat, and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). First up is Insta-Dri “Clearly Quick”. This was the first clear coat I ever owned because I loved the Insta-Dri line so much. I didn’t bother to experiment with other ones because I figured they would all be the same. This one is ok: it dries quickly, it goes on smoothly, and it gives your nails a nice shine. However, there is one major flaw with this polish that is a deal breaker for me. This clear coat drags the other polish with it. Even when I have waited 3 hours for a design to dry it still dragged it. That means if you want it to not drag you have to use a ton to make sure it doesn’t and that isn’t worth it to me. Next up we have S

2015 Prom Nails

Hello everybody! Prom season has officially arrived! My prom was yesterday and to match my beautiful red dress I decided to do a red French tip with silver for my nails. I really like how they turned out (even though my nails are still stained, but that’s ok); they are much better than last year's. I even shaped my nails a bit differently to suit the look. Here’s how I did it. The colors I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s “Red My Lips” (#470), Sally Hansen Diamond Strength “Ballet Bar” (#3227) from the French manicure kit, and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). I also used silver glitter from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit and a skinny nail art brush. You may also want a fan brush to brush off glitter, but that's completely optional. Like I said before, I reshaped my nail for this design. I made them a bit more square-like instead of them being rounded. This makes it even easier to do the tips of your nail because you aren't pressured to make it match

Nail-Aid 1st Acetone Power Gel Review

Hello everybody! Today, I have decided to review a product that I have recently purchased from Walmart for around $4. If you couldn’t tell from the title this product is 1 st Acetone Power Gel by Nail-Aid. I bought the one specifically made for glitter and nail art in hopes that it would make removing my glitter nails easier. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. The product says that you don’t need any cotton balls and you don’t have to scrub your nails, all you need to do is dip them into the gel, let it sit for four minutes, and sweep it off with a paper towel. That sounds amazing, right! I was so excited to use this, so when my friend came over I tried it out. The first thing I noticed is this gel literally took all the heat from my finger. Gel is cold, I know, but this gel made my finger so so SO cold and my finger cramped up; it was a horrible feeling. I don’t think that my skin is extremely sensitive to temperature, but if yours is and you want to try this product, avoid contact

Gold At The End Of The Rainbow

Hello everyone! This is my final St. Patrick’s Day design and it is the most complex out of all of them. I wouldn’t say it is hard (because it’s not), but there’s a lot more to do.   I tried to replicate this look from a picture I saw on Pinterest; hopefully I did it justice. Here’s what I used. The colors I used where Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Jet Set Jade” (#180), “Black to Black” (#360), “Rapid Red” (#280), “Man-go Team!” (#30), “Lightening” (#250), “Lickety-Split Lime” (#450), “Brisk Blue” (#430), “Vigorous Violet” (#365), and Essie’s “Good as Gold” (#941). I also used gold balls from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit, a skinny nail art brush, and a nail dotter. I started with my dark green as the base color for all my nails. Then, on my ring finger nail I painted a pot (that a leprechaun would put gold in) in black. Using a small nail art brush I then painted a rainbow going across three of my nails (index, middle, and ring fingers). I dotted on gold coming

Clover Nails

Hello everyone! So, I decided instead of getting rid of my beautiful manicure from last week that I would just give it an upgrade. I turned my simple green and gold nail design into a clover manicure! Here’s how it’s done. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shade “In Record Lime” (#50), Essie shades “Good As Gold” (#941) and “Rock At The Top” (#962) , and the Base + Top Coat by Revlon (#965). I also kept the gold glitter from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit that I used last week. For this mani I only changed one nail’s base color. I removed the green off my index fingers and painted on two coats of Essie’s “Good As Gold”. On my middle finger I used the same gold color to paint the clover’s stem and I used a nail dotter to make three clover petals. The trick for the petals is to just make them in a heart shape by connecting two dots. I made another clover on my index finger using the green polish. For the remaining green nails I added the gold glitter from

Green + Gold Accent Nail

Hello everyone! I wanted to do one more simple St. Patrick’s day nail design before I did the complex stuff. This is super easy and will last a while. Here’s what you’ll need. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shade “In Record Lime” (#50), Essie’s “Good As Gold” (#941), and my new Base + Top Coat by Revlon (#965). I also used gold glitter from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit. First, I used one layer of the Revlon’s Base + Top coat to protect my nail. I am hoping that this will prevent any more staining that way my nails can grow out and be stain free before prom. Anyway, I painted all my nails, except the ring finger, with my green polish and sealed that off with a top coat. For my ring finger nail I painted two coats of my gold polish and let that dry (this is here just in case the glitter doesn’t reach all areas of the nail). Next, I painted on a layer of clear coat and quickly dipped my whole nail in the gold glitter . Brush off the excess glitter an

Green Polka Dot Nails

Hello everyone! St. Patrick’s Day is on March 17 th which means I’m going to be doing 4 nail designs leading up to that day! Isn’t that amazing!?! Can you hear the excitement in my voice!?! All these exclamation marks!! Anyway… this is the first design lol. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri polishes in the shades “Jade Jump” (#450), “Lickety-Split Lime” (#29), and “In Record Lime” (#50), and Sally Hansen’s Big Matte Top Coat. You will also need a medium/large nail dotter.  I started with “Jade Jump”, which is the pastel green color, for the base. Then using a nail dotter I dotted two vertical lines of light green, splitting my nail into thirds (if you want to look at it that way) and then three vertical lines of dark green (filling in the spaces). Lastly, after everything was fully dry, I added a matte top coat. It’s that easy! Not much of a tutorial if you ask me (but I still call it that). I hope you all like this design! I always get good feedback on

Galaxy Nails

Hello everyone! I have a special design for you guys today that I have been wanting to do for a very long time. I’d say these galaxy nails turned out pretty well :). Keep reading if you want to know how easy they can actually be. The polishes I used were Revlon’s “Black Star” (#880), Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear shades in “White On” (#300) and “Blue Me Away!” (#04), Insta-Dri shades in “Pronto Purple” (#360) and “Silver Sweep” (#230), and Blackheart Beauty “Daydream Scream”. You’ll also need a makeup sponge, a small nail dotter, and some optional star glitter. To start off your design you will need a black base coat. The black I chose has a bit of shine to it, but you can use a solid black as well. Next, take a makeup sponge (I used the triangle ones) and on one corner paint a bit of white polish. Now listen up because this next part is really, really, really important; DAB OFF THE EXCESS POLISH . If you don’t dab off the excess polish you will not get the desired galaxy ef

Finger Paints “Masterpiece of Minimalism” Review

Hello everyone! Today I have a swatch for you of one of the new polishes in my collection. This polish is by Finger Paints in the shade “Masterpiece of Minimalism” (#806145). This is a really lovely polish, so stick around and I’ll tell you why. There are certain components that I look for in a nail polish, the first being color. This polish is a neutral purple that has sort of a greyish undertone to it. In the light it just looks like a very lovely purple, but in dull lighting it looks very dark and a greyish-brown. I actually really love this color and if you are a big fan of neutral shades you will definitely like it. The next things I look for are brush size and polish consistency. The brush is a decent thickness making it easy to spread the polish on your nail without it getting all over your fingers. The polish itself is a really nice formula and it glides on smoothly. There were no bubbles in the polish after it dried, which is always a plus.  Finally, I look for

Leopard Nails

Hello everyone! I decided to use some of my new polishes to create a leopard design, which I have wanted to try for a long time. Since most of the newer polishes I received are neutral browns/golds I thought it would be the perfect opportunity. Here’s what you’ll need. The polishes I used were the Orly shades “Buried Treasure” (#20181) and “Sea Gurl” (#20748), and Finger Paint shades “You’re Kiln Me” (#806504) and “Abstract Attraction” (#806862). I also used Sally Hansen’s No Chip Top Coat and a gold stud from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit. I started with my gold base, which required two coats. Next, I used “Sea Gurl” to dot on a few… blobs, they’re just blobs lol, onto my nail. Basically, it just looks like a leopard spots (that’s the point). Next, I used my darker brown color to outline the blobs and define the spots; I added a bit of glitter to bring them out even more. Finally, I put a dab of clear polish on my ring finger and added a gold stud (completely optional

Cupid’s Bow & Arrow Nails

Hello everyone! For my last Valentine's design I decided to stop stealing ideas off of my Pinterest board and try to come up with something on my own. I haven’t seen a design like this yet (that doesn’t mean there isn’t one though), so I’d like to present you with Cupid’s bow and arrow nails! The colors I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri shades in “Pink Blink” (#205) and “Rapid Red” (#280), and Essie’s “Mink Muffs” (#624).   I also used a nail art brush and a nail dotter. To start off I painted my nails with “Pink Blink”. The color is beautiful, but since the polish is so old it took 3 coats lol; I need to buy a new one. I did a review of this polish last February which you can view here (I sucked at reviews back then gosh). Anyway, using my medium brown polish I painted a bow on my thumb nail. Make sure you paint it in the direction I did that way it will be aimed the right way. Using a skinny nail art brush I then painted an arrow across 3 of my nail

Neutral Polka Dot Nails

Hello everyone! The third Valentine’s Day design I have for you is quite simple, yet appropriate for the occasion; it's a neutral, polka dot mani with a cute little accent heart. I had originally planned to do a French tip, but my thumb nail finally gave up and broke, so I had to change things up. The colors I used for this design were Essie’s “Eternal Optimist” (#144) and “Licorice” (#720). I also used a small nail dotter. I started off with Eternal Optimist, which is a really nice mauve pink. I haven’t used this color in a while, but I really do love it. It's actually one of the first colors I remember posting about on Instagram before I ruined it with badly drawn lines that I didn't have nail art brushes for lol. Anyway, using my nail dotter, I made four columns of black polka dots. I basically dotted in straight lines until the nail was filled. On my ring finger I dotted on a small heart before adding the polka dots. Finish it off with a clear coat and you have
