2015 Prom Nails

Hello everybody! Prom season has officially arrived! My prom was yesterday and to match my beautiful red dress I decided to do a red French tip with silver for my nails. I really like how they turned out (even though my nails are still stained, but that’s ok); they are much better than last year's. I even shaped my nails a bit differently to suit the look. Here’s how I did it.

The colors I used for this design were Sally Hansen’s “Red My Lips” (#470), Sally Hansen Diamond Strength “Ballet Bar” (#3227) from the French manicure kit, and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965). I also used silver glitter from SHANY's Nail Art Decoration Kit and a skinny nail art brush. You may also want a fan brush to brush off glitter, but that's completely optional.

Like I said before, I reshaped my nail for this design. I made them a bit more square-like instead of them being rounded. This makes it even easier to do the tips of your nail because you aren't pressured to make it match the rounded shape (I don't like it that way, but if you do feel free to shape your nails however you like). Next I put on two coats of my sheer pink which I got out of Sally Hansen’s French Manicure Kit. I used this for last years prom, but I realized that it made my white French tips a bit pink, so I decided that I’d put this polish on before I did the tips (that’s not what the instructions say, but I’m a rebel). Next I took my red and made a straight line across the tip of my nail. I did mine a bit thick, but you can change it based on your preference and how long your nails are. Also, don’t worry if it isn’t a perfectly straight line because we will be adding glitter; that’s why I didn’t bother with stickers. After everything was COMPLETELY dry I added a thin line of clear polish under the red and sprinkled silver glitter. I brushed off the excess glitter and sealed everything with a top coat.

Ta da! DIY prom nails. Who needs to waste money at a salon? I hope you all like this design and if you will be going to prom in the near future I hope you have fun. I filmed a prom vlog which will be up very soon. Also, if you’d like to see my design from last year you can click here. See you on Wednesday! BYYEEE

Suncoat Natural Nail Polish Remover First Impression

Hello everyone! Today I have a review for Suncoat’s Natural Nail Polish Remover. My mom recently purchased this online at Amazon, which at the moment is $5.68 for 60ml. It is a corn and soya based nail polish remover with only 4 ingredients, which is significantly healthier than regular polish remover. It comes in either a 30ml or 60ml glass bottle (1oz or 2oz) which is better than plastic because the chemicals in plastic bottles will soak into the remover as well, and that’s bad for you. The directions say to put it on your nails with a Q tip or cotton ball, let soak, and rub off until the polish is removed; basically, it works just like normal removers. I had my mom test it on the 4 th of July nail design and the new glitter polish I got (I test my designs on her first ok) and she gave me a review. She said that it was very very oily, but it is oil so that’s what you’d expect. It took longer to remove than what it would for normal polish remover, but it worked just as well....

L.A. Colors Color Last - First Impressions

Hey everybody! So I was walking around my local Walmart about 2 weeks ago and I came across a new display of nail polish for L.A. Colors Color Last nail polish. The polishes went for 2 dollars (I think anyway they were pretty cheap) and they claimed to last up to 10 days with the top coat. I decided I’d test that out because why not buy more nail polish that will inevitably dry out and be wasted, whatever. So that is what this blog post is for; I’ll be giving you my first impressions of both the actual polish and the top coat itself.  The color I chose is called “Friendship” and it’s a neutral purple color with slight pink tones. It also has this weird glitter that you can only see when it’s wet or if you have eagle eyes. Anyway, it is a nice color (I used 2 coats) but I had a few problems with application. This particular polish did NOT go on smoothly at all and it looked really rough on its own. I contemplated testing the polish without the top coat on one hand for a ...

Firework Nails

Hello everyone! If you live in America then tomorrow is an exciting day for you, full of celebration. With that celebration comes amazing fireworks. So, without further a do here are my Independence Day firework nails. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen's "Co-balt Blue" (#320), "Red My Lips" (#470), "Silver Sweep" (#230), and "Grape Shifter" (#423), NYC's "French White Tip" (#134), and Blackheart Beauty's "Deep Sky Blue". I also used a nail dotter to create the fireworks. I started by painting the base colors on my nails, alternating the colors on each finger, and letting that dry. I chose to do my fireworks on the navy blue nails, but you can do them on the red or even on all the nails if you choose. For the fireworks I started with a dot for the center of the firework and added a red star there. Remember, the center of the firework does not have to be in the center of the nail (I only did that on one nai...
