Showdown: Clear Coats

Hello everyone! Today I have a special review of four different clear coats. You may think that clear coats are all the same, but you’d be wrong. They all have their good and bad qualities. I’ll be reviewing Sally Hansen’s “Clearly Quick” (#110), Diamond Strength Base & Top Coat, and No Chip Top Coat, and Revlon’s Base + Top Coat (#965).

First up is Insta-Dri “Clearly Quick”. This was the first clear coat I ever owned because I loved the Insta-Dri line so much. I didn’t bother to experiment with other ones because I figured they would all be the same. This one is ok: it dries quickly, it goes on smoothly, and it gives your nails a nice shine. However, there is one major flaw with this polish that is a deal breaker for me. This clear coat drags the other polish with it. Even when I have waited 3 hours for a design to dry it still dragged it. That means if you want it to not drag you have to use a ton to make sure it doesn’t and that isn’t worth it to me.

Next up we have Sally Hansen’s No Chip Top Coat. This is so misleading because it really does chip. A lot. The polish is great in every other aspect except that when a couple days go by (maybe even just a day) the polish starts to chip. It was mostly toward the top part of my nail and it happened every time. I was highly disappointed with this and I won’t be buying it again. If you’ve had a different experience please let me know.

The next polish is the Diamond Strength Base & Top Coat from Sally Hansen’s French Manicure Kit. This is already great before you even open the bottle because it serves as both a base and a top coat, which I have now realized (after my nails have been horribly stained) that base coats are just as important, if not more, as top coats. This polish is really good; I can’t find a single flaw with it. The only thing is, if you aren’t a fan of skinnier brushes this one wouldn’t work for you. Personally, I’m ok with it. I used this top coat down to the very last drop. I’m curious if this is available on its own because if it is I’d probably but it again.

Finally we have my newest edition, Revlon’s Base + Top Coat. This one is my new favorite. It has all the things you need as far as a clear polish goes. It is, again, a base and top coat which seems to work quite nicely (it protects the nail and stuff). It dries quickly, glides on easy, it doesn’t chip or drag your nail polish. This is one of the one’s with a skinnier brush, but I definitely don’t mind it. I’m glad I decided to look at polishes besides Sally Hansen because this is a great find.

I hope this was a helpful review and my experiences will help you determine what clear polish you will go for/avoid. I recommend getting one that is a base and top coat (two in one is always great) and making sure that it has good reviews with no major flaws. That’s all for today, but I’ll be getting back to designs for Wednesday. BYYEEE

Firework Nails

Hello everyone! If you live in America then tomorrow is an exciting day for you, full of celebration. With that celebration comes amazing fireworks. So, without further a do here are my Independence Day firework nails. The polishes I used were Sally Hansen's "Co-balt Blue" (#320), "Red My Lips" (#470), "Silver Sweep" (#230), and "Grape Shifter" (#423), NYC's "French White Tip" (#134), and Blackheart Beauty's "Deep Sky Blue". I also used a nail dotter to create the fireworks. I started by painting the base colors on my nails, alternating the colors on each finger, and letting that dry. I chose to do my fireworks on the navy blue nails, but you can do them on the red or even on all the nails if you choose. For the fireworks I started with a dot for the center of the firework and added a red star there. Remember, the center of the firework does not have to be in the center of the nail (I only did that on one nai...

Suncoat Natural Nail Polish Remover First Impression

Hello everyone! Today I have a review for Suncoat’s Natural Nail Polish Remover. My mom recently purchased this online at Amazon, which at the moment is $5.68 for 60ml. It is a corn and soya based nail polish remover with only 4 ingredients, which is significantly healthier than regular polish remover. It comes in either a 30ml or 60ml glass bottle (1oz or 2oz) which is better than plastic because the chemicals in plastic bottles will soak into the remover as well, and that’s bad for you. The directions say to put it on your nails with a Q tip or cotton ball, let soak, and rub off until the polish is removed; basically, it works just like normal removers. I had my mom test it on the 4 th of July nail design and the new glitter polish I got (I test my designs on her first ok) and she gave me a review. She said that it was very very oily, but it is oil so that’s what you’d expect. It took longer to remove than what it would for normal polish remover, but it worked just as well....

Miracle Gel Swatches

Hey guys! I know this post is late, but now that school has started back up all I ever do is homework. It's ridiculous I don't do anything anymore (not that I ever did lol). Anyway enough excuses. I did these swatches forever ago, like October of last year, so my memory of these colors are a distant memory. However, I didn't have a post planned so I thought I would show you these. The deep red color is "Wine Stock" (#480). I really like this color and it would be a great holiday nail color. However, because I love red nail polish, especially deep red, I will wear this whenever I want. As every other Miracle Gel polish I own, this is a great polish. I believe this was only one coat as well which is super cool. The other color is "All Chalked Up" (#230) and it is a pastel purple color. This color is very light-hearted and cute looking which I appreciate when it is dreary outside and I get sad. This is also a great Easter color (apparently I l...
